Unexplained Crashes
Yes Im aware Konni is in Australia
But this is a bit much - I have had five totally unexplained crashes on Flynet by four different (and experienced) pilots - Right now VHAs rep is at 65 which is totally unacceptable - all have been in cruise with nothing out of the ordinary when Flynet has just let go and shown the pilot as having crashed - Besides the
rep which doesnt mean anything to my guys its just frustrating for them. Can anyone in admin do anything or are we forced to see the VA put out of business
by Flynets errors?? and yes this is a rant - People are getting tired of having this sort of thing happen everytime Konni disappears for another holiday and basically abandons the Client. Personally I will be very happy when Realworldatc get their client up and running in October.

I understand FlyNet has problems and we all have been hited by this, well, almost all, including myself in teh past. However I would like to avoid blaming Konny for this. He is not a professional and he earns nothing in terms of money for this. However he has spent countles hours and endless effort to create out virtual world which we call FlyNet and which has provided to all of us many hours of entertainment. For sure he has the right to leave for vacation.
If I wanted to make some constructive suggestion in my message, I would suggest to have more developers, like Konny, involved in Flynet so the problem could be solved faster. That;s my suggestion but even if I understand how someone feels after an unfair aircraft crash, please, let's not blame anyone, especially Konny.

If not Konny then who? the system isnt working there are fatal flaws in it - I am pointing out a problem and yes I feel that Beta or Not if someone provides a product free or otherwise there is a responisbility to make sure it works correctly - As I said if these problems were isolated or errors made by newbies
I would understand - But they are neither isolated and they are happening to people who have been using Flynet for over a year so what am I expected to do?
sit on my hands and watch while people walk away because the software doesnt work???? And FYI I spend as much if not more time maintaining a VA and a website for it than Konny does with Flynet also for free.

Thank you Chris
Thats a fair question, but no - thats been brought up before and as I said if these were newbies I would say fair cop but they have all (including myself) been flying for almost a year here and know most of the 'easy" fixes.....with one exception that have all happened in cruise in what appeared to be perfectly normal flights - the client just seems to let go andshows the flight as a crash - in my case , I wasnt even aware that the Client had ceased - it just booted me and said I had crashed.

i hear your frsutration as a fellow CEO with a low rep, but FCS is running at 50 due to crashes, which granted was purely pilot error and we have turned a profit on every flight since getting rep as low as 45. So it can be recovered. I would strongly support Konny, and i think any critisism of his work is wholly unfair as he is doing this for free and hosting it. He could easily start charging with an attitude like that. i do however beleive that letting more programmers into the ring to develop and fix bugs would help immensely. I can only progam in VB so i'm of no use!!!

As with everything else, Konny and DaKurt are on vacation until September and will be unable to do anything to fix any issues with the server. The issue is here and they will see it when they get back. This issue seems to be primarily due to the server outages we're experiencing. When Konny & DaKurt get back, the DB Admins will be pushing for a new host for the network that is more stable.

No. The only parts of the DB that the DB Admins currently have "unrestricted" access to are the Aircraft Types and Airports databases. All other databases are closed to us. Konny was unable to complete the scripting he felt needed for us to securely administer the other parts before they left on vacation.

If you think it's an issue of trust, then you haven't been here long enough. We've had at least a DOZEN hacking attempts in the last year to our network. It's not that he doesn't trust us, we (the staff) don't trust the users anymore because we tried that and that trust was badly betrayed.
You know what. I'm locking this thread as it has no further useful purpose. Every other post is a thinly veiled attack on the people who were nice enough to code this and provide it to you for FREE and who are taking a vacation after over a year of extremely stressful work (outside FlyNET) so if you don't like it I'll be short and sweet because it's become apparent that there are some who either have no and can show no appreciation for that fact.
