Airport database error

Post by Jon.M »

Hi Chaps,

I've just found a small error in your airport database. I flew to AGGV Suvanao in the Solomon Islands and after landing was amazed to get a penalty for landing at the wrong airport as I was certain I was at the right one. FlyNet had me as landing at AGGF Maringe.

After some checking in the FlyNET database and MSFS I found a discrepancy in the longitude for AGGV Suvanao.

MSFS lists it as Long: E158°43'89'' FlyNET has it as Long: E154°43'89''. The latitude is the same in both sources. S7°35'11''.
The MSFS coordinate is the correct one. FlyNET's one is probably in the ocean. :)

I assume FlyNET has put me at AGGF as it's the nearest airport in it's database.

I'd be grateful if you would correct your database, put my aircraft at the correct place and remove the penalties incurred.

Thanks in advance.

Submit the airport location edit to the database. The info was what your boss submitted to me. To get the rest fixed, talk to Lief. He'll e-mail Konny and get it fixed.

Unless another admin approved an edit to the database and didn't say anything, the data for all of the Pacific Islands should not have changed as I was the one to approve most of the airports submitted by you.

Like I said Chris - Im not arguing with Admins - OK? I just resubmitted AGGV/VAO Suvanao with the Correct LON of 158 43 89 E
If youd correct the Db ID apreciate it then Jon can get on about his business....as we do not compete with the flynet's
other customers but rather fly for the enjoyment of it - the only thing that would P*ss me off is if the reliability facor dropped to where it made no difference between flying witht eh client or without it...as far a v$ goes -- To quote Rhett Butler -- Frankly My dear.......

Anywhoo could you change the Db on this airport and Jon can get on about his business

Cheers

Chris,

This looks like my mistake. :(

I just checked the airport database and we now have two AGGV's. The original SUAVANAO with the incorrect coordinates and a new one with the correct coordinates incorrectly named SUVANAO.

Looking at my first post I see I mispelt the name of the airport and I guess you copied and pasted my mistake.

I assume we'd be all right landing at either set of coordinates :) but I suppose it would be better to put it right.

Apologies for creating extra work.

I wouldn't normally bump a post, :) but the double entry for AGGV still exists.

Could we get it corrected please.

Chris,

I don't know either.

I'm guessing that as an entry does now exist for the right coordinates we wouldn't get a landed at wrong airport penalty landing there. But I haven't tried it yet (I'm currently ferrying Comets to Mexico). However another of our guys is flying there at the moment and I wouldn't want him to have problems.

Sorry this is turning into an epic saga.
