Client crashes during long flights

Post by PlutonianEmpire »

My favorite activity in FS9 is to load up my Meljet 777-200LR, take off from KMSP, go to bed, wake up, and land somewhere in Australia. On FlyNET, I get to earn virtual money too!

However, I'm stuck in Australia with no money, because the client keeps crashing during the return flight while I sleep, and I have to cancel and re-book and all that. Of course I could just set the SimRate to 16X and be home in an hour, but that takes the fun out of it.

Anyone else have this problem?

Next time it happens again can you please send me ( info@flynet.en-studios.de) the log.out which you can find in the FlyNET directory ?

Problem is solved when you disable the client tracker on the flynet.cfg file... change the tracker value to 0, and it solves all your problems

Where do I find it? The search on my computer came up empty.

There is a flynet.ini in you Windows directory. There you will find the tracker value. But I would really appreciate it if you wouldn't change it and give me the chance to find the problem ;)

I finally figured out why: every now and then, my wireless connection cuts itself from my computer, therefore cutting off internet access, causing the client to crash.

(yes, I'm using a laptop. Yes, it crashed again, meaning I i have to cancel and rebook and lose more V$ :x )

My comp never crashed, but....

Why should you cancel and rebook ? I closed once by mistake (as I wanted to minimise it, and clicked on the X) the client during a flight, I have restarted my flight, reloged the client and flown the booked flight... Why should it be different during a pc crash ?

Marc
It was a client crash, not a pc crash.

I have today had this problem happen to me as well. 8 hours into my 12 hour flight my client crashed "Error- application must close etc". I suspect my connection to my wireless internet might have dropped as PlutonainEmpire suggested.
So, despite my aircraft still cruising smoothly enroute right now (about three hours to go) I guess this flight is lost? I had to close the client so I guess any chance of a manual upload is ot of the question.
I'll forward along a failure log if I can find it as mentioned here, and will try and figure out someway to get out of my booking without losing any money

Edit: (a few hours later) I've sent my logout to Konny at the email address listed above. Thanks! :D I've also reworked my home network and my flightsim computer is now hardwired to the internet, instead of through a wireless connection. That might solve my problem.

Guess you can't get out of a booking that easily.. ouch! (2/3rds of all the money I have)

Maybe this topic (flying offline with FLYnet) will help

I already have it set for offline flying, even though i'm connected to the 'net 24/7. I just wanna make sure that it won't crash if i lose the connection, since that tends to happen A LOT while I sleep during my long flights. :)

Thanks for the link. :)
