Litttle problem with new airport, can you fix this please.

Post by Jakes »

Hi, tanx for a great site, I have registered a few new airports and there is a problem with one or two, under this subject you will see two flight plans that has cost my airline and my pilot's rep quite allot, ya twice cause i told him to test it again, before we reported it. The problem here is the distance, of the airport, the data is correct, but if you will look at the distance that the airport is on the flight plan. AW35 and AW56 is 13n/m from each other but in the flight plan it shows it as 1544n/m. AW35 is a 109.8 n/m from FADN but your flight plan shows it as1616n/m.( see flight plans below). So what happens is that when you land it shows it as landing at the wrong airport. AW35 is in South Africa. Can you please refund My VA and fix my pilots reputation, this will be greatly appreciated. Thanx Jakes.

Konny will be able to make the decision about the issue of re-imbursement, but when the airports are added to the database, it's the responsiblity of the person submitting the airport to ensure all of the data is correct. The DB Admins only verify that all of the data is present and reasonable, not that it is correct. If the location of the airport is incorrect in the database, then you need to submit an edit for that airport to be approved.

Here's what the database says as the location for the two airports-

http://flynet.en-studios.de/index.php?s ... a&apt=AW35

http://flynet.en-studios.de/index.php?s ... a&apt=AW56

When I go into your VA's page and look at the routes originating from Cathedral Peak, it shows Cathedral Peak out in the middle of the South Atlantic, so it seems to me that the data you submitted for Cathedral Peak is incorrect. There is a Pencil Icon at the top of the Cathedral Peak Page, click on that and you can fix the data for the airport and submit it to be accepted into the database.

Ah,
I think the problem here is the East (E) West (W) formatting for AW35. The longitude for this is shown as
29°12'20" e <--- I think this is defaulting the data to 00°00'00" it should be 29°12'20" E
because AW56 is perfect at
29°26'57" E

Maybe need some validation on these fields ?

When I validated, it was a large E, but it's not supposed to matter (the database isn't supposed to be case sensitive).

Ok I changed that "e" to "E", I hope this will fix the problem, the data submitted was correct, so I see no problem there.
I don't really worry about the money, it's just the pilots rep that I'm concerned about, I was the one that told him to go and fly the same flight again to see if the problem is with us. Tanx anyway for replying and happy new year to u guy's.

Jakes.
